this is her dress! and now my dress....
I was re-securing a couple snaps on the side and I just fell in love. the lace is actually in really great shape. I found only three small breaks along the bottom hem and some splitting in the shoulders and underarms where you would expect it. It's a bit wrinkled right now, but I can really see how lovely it is. the zig zag waist. the sheer lace shoulders and neckline and the hanky hem is darling to match the zig zag waist detail. there's a sheer muslin slip underneath the skirt. what a beauty. the veil didn't age as well, darker lace now and several holes. that's okay. I think this was paired with satin gloves. I vaguely remember that I might have them somewhere. I will have to look for them.
I already purchased a dress that's pretty exceptional silk and heavily beaded from around the same time period.
but the lace one has stolen my heart. So that's how it goes. :)
